If you’re involved in design industry, you’ll know that most modern web design today are following the trend of flat design methodology. You would expected that your’s years of Photoshop training will be very useful when come in web or graphic design. However in reality, you will received a feedback from clients like,

“remove the extra color and effect from the design, i just need something simple like the flat style that people been buzzing about”

Now the clients request is acceptable and it is his choice. but….here comes the worst scenario when the clients were billed for the work.

“this is a simple design, no extra work needed, why the HELL are the charge were the same as before?”

That’s when you ask yourself, did you charge by design style or design work? is flat design cheaper than realism design? is the clients request a flat design because he/she think designer will charge them lower than usual? this is where design is becoming obsolete in today web graphic industry.

Is Flat Design Cheaper?

Should designer charge a cheaper price/quote for a “flat” design? The potential clients might think the designer will charge a lower price since the final design might only involve few colors, few hours work and no extra design work needed.

“one drop of water is definitely cheaper than few drops”, this is what client’s thinking that might cause the obsolete of design work in today world.
