7 Key Tips for Successfully Getting More Instagram Followers

instagram followers tips guidesIf you want to get more Instagram followers, but you don’t want to buy a bunch of fake followers (and you really shouldn’t!) then you’ll need to develop a strategy to help you accomplish your goals. Fortunately for you, plenty of people have been successful at getting more Instagram followers with these tactics, so you can use what you already know is working for other people to get more followers for yourself.

1. Use an Instagram Bot to Automate Following/Unfollowing

Instagram bots allow you to automatically follow people based on their interests, so you can build an audience of targeted followers without doing all the hard work yourself.

And, those apps will automatically unfollow people that don’t follow you back within a certain amount of time, so you can keep a closer eye on your Instagram follower ratio. You can also use an Instagram follower app to build a targeted following even faster.

Remember, Instagram bots also make it possible for you to automatically like and comment on posts, too. While automating likes is not a big deal, because it doesn’t take long to do naturally, many experts will caution against automating comments and direct messages, too. The reason for this is because you want the comments and messages to be relevant to the content, the messages must be highly generic to make sense with the automation platform.

2. Use Hashtags

Hashtags categorize content on Instagram and the other social networks you can use them on. They make it easy for people to find content related to their hashtag, so they’re great to use if you want people who aren’t’ following you to have a better chance of seeing your content. You can use up to 30 hashtags on each one of your posts – though you don’t have to use that many.

You can work them into your caption where appropriate, include them at the end of your caption or even include them in a comment. Just take some time to do some hashtag research beforehand, to make sure you’re not using banned hashtags or using hashtags that aren’t’ actually associated with your brand, to make sure you don’t hurt your credibility.

3. Spy on the Competition

What websites are your main competition? Take a look at the official Instagram accounts for those profiles. See what kind of content they’re creating and using – and what is getting the most engagement.

Then, make your account similar, because you already know it’s working for them, That said, you don’t want to blatantly copy anything they’re doing, because of copyright and trademark laws. Also, take a look at their list of followers, and follow those people gradually. Many of them will likely follow you back, especially if they like what they see, which brings us to the next point.

4. Post Great Photos

No matter how much automation you do, or work you do to get more followers on your own, you must have good quality photos or graphics. If you don’t have that, you won’t be able to keep the followers you earn for long. If you need help in this department, learn some smartphone photography tricks, or use something like Canva or PicMonkey to create quality graphics in just a few clicks.

5. Pay Attention to Your Posting Times

The time you post your Instagram content will affect the engagement. You want to try to post at a time when most of your followers are online so they can see the content and engage with it as soon as it goes live. You’ll have to test various times and then pay attention to your analytics to see what works – but you can use research from other sources to help you get started a bit.

6. Engage with Your Followers

Take time to respond to comments your followers leave. Follow your followers back, and interact with the things they share on their own feed. This lets people know you’re paying attention and thankful that they are part of your community. The more you engage with your followers, the more they are likely to engage with you. If they learn that everything they do or say falls on deaf ears, they will eventually stop making the effort.

7. Run an Instagram Contest

If you want to increase your follower count while simultaneously building brand awareness, then an Instagram contest is the way to go. You can do it any number of ways – asking people to like your post for entry, have them tag their friends, have them submit their own photos to help you build a repository of user-generated content, and so on.

When planned properly, an Instagram contest can do wonders for increasing your following. Just make sure you keep your contest simple to enter, use an easy to remember hashtag that won’t get mixed in with others so you can track entries, promote the contest so you get entries, and give away a prize that not only

Getting more Instagram followers won’t happen overnight. Yes, you’ll see some come in gradually, but in the interest of keeping everything as natural and authentic as possible, even automated tools won’t flood your account with a ton of new followers at once. Be patient and you will definitely see those follower numbers grow!
